Benign MS

Benign MS

Some people begin to experience a small number of relapses, which are followed by a full recovery.

This is described as benign Multiple Sclerosis. Benign MS cannot be diagnosed at the onset of the condition, but is diagnosed in retrospect. This means that it can only be diagnosed once you have experienced no disability for an extended period of time, between ten to fifteen years.

Being diagnosed with benign MS unfortunately does not guarantee that you will be free from MS completely, as some people do experience occasional relapses. These relapses can occur even after many years with minimal disability, whilst the condition has been inactive. It is possibe for people initially diagnosed with benign Multiple Sclerosis to develop progressive MS later in life.
